What This Family Did With The Body Of Their Dead Father Is Just Bizarre

By  |

When you lose a loved one, it”s sometimes hard to accept that they”re really gone. Depending on who you are, you might turn to religion to find solace and the will to move on. That being said, what this one family in Ontario, Canada, did is probably a little too extreme.

Kaling Wald”s husband, Peter Wald, passed away in March 2013 after battling with diabetes and a foot infection. However, instead of reporting his body to the police, the family locked Peter”s body in the bedroom and prayed for the next six months that God might resurrect him.

After Peter died, the family drew the curtains in the bedroom, sealed the windows, and wrapped the body in plastic to keep the smell from escaping.

That”s when Karling and her five children began praying, hoping that the power of prayer would raise Peter from the dead.

That

Kaling and the family managed to keep Peter”s body a secret for six months. Kaling allegedly told neighbors who asked after Peter that “he was in God”s hands now.” The body was only discovered when the police came to evict the Walds from their home.

When deputies found Peter”s body it was badly decayed. Kaling was arrested at the scene and charged with neglect of duty regarding a dead body and offering an indignity to a body.

Lucky for Kaling her sentence was ultimately suspended when the court found that she meant no harm. Instead she was ordered to seek counseling, and received 18 months of probation.

Grief probably deserves most of the blame for what happened. By all accounts Peter was a good and friendly man. He was known in the neighborhood for driving his van covered in religious symbols and quotes.

It”d be very easy to write off what Kaling and her family did as pure craziness, but it”s important to remember that grief can make people do some pretty extreme things. I just hope she gets the help she needs.
