We”ve all been there. You could have sworn someone said it was going to be a clear day, and so you wore some light shoes and no jacket. Now, you”re drenched and shivering under a heavy gray sky.
If only you had a way of actually predicting the weather, right? Well, good news — you can! With just a balloon, a straw, a jar, and some rubber bands, you can build your very own barometer to measure the pressure in the atmosphere, which is an integral part of predicting storms.

If a storm is coming, the balloon will swell up, causing the straw to point down. You can create a chart behind the straw to map out the weather predictions, and you”ll always know what to wear.
