A few years ago, something mysterious washed up on Pompano Beach in Florida. Residents found a giant, perfectly sea-blue eyeball around the size of a softball. No one had any idea what it was at first, and the Internet went wild with speculation. When researchers finally examined the object, they found its creepy origins.
Imagine coming across this on the beach while you”re minding your own business. That would scare the heck out of me.
When researchers finally got their hands on the eyeball, they were able to tell almost immediately that it was the eye of a giant swordfish.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission later speculated that the eye was likely cut out of a swordfish that was caught by an angler further out at sea.

Why does everything from the ocean have to be so darn terrifying? First we find weird mutant barnacles, and now giant floating swordfish eyes. I”m afraid to think of what might be next.
