Redditor seaaguaamigo was in a deep sleep earlier this week when he woke to a terrible sound. After noticing that his fan stopped working, he rolled over to see exactly why and found something particularly nasty. A golden tree snake somehow slithered inside the fan and got a bit too close to the blades.
Snakes are typically drawn to warm areas at night, which would make the fan”s motor the perfect hiding place. That is, until it went too close to the blades.
Golden Tree snakes are common throughout south and southeast Asia. They”re popular as pets because of their appearance and calm demeanor.
While golden tree snakes do produce venom, it”s quite mild and harmless to humans. This makes it even more of a shame that this little guy met such a terrible end.
The coolest trait of golden tree snakes is their ability to literally glide through the air. This is a defense mechanism that allows it to get away from predators in a hurry.

I feel bad that this snake met such a horrible end. At the same time, I”m completely terrified by the idea of a flying snake. Just look at that thing! I”m not sure I could run fast enough.
